<del> (deletion) contains a letter, word, or passage deleted, marked as deleted, or otherwise indicated as superfluous or spurious in the copy text by an author, scribe, annotator, or corrector.

Possible values
strikethrough
(crossed out) The deleted word (or the deleted character) is crossed out.
overwritten
(overwritten (by hand)) The deleted word (or the deleted character) is overwritten by hand by the substitution.
erased
(covered) The deleted word (or the deleted character) is repaid by shaving or other means.
overtyped
(overtyped (by machine)) The deleted word (or the deleted character) is overtyped by machine by the substitution.
corrFluid
(correction fluid) The deleted word (or the deleted character) is covered with correction fluid.
