[Manuscript]

[After 16 January 1985] * Dear brother:

This is just
a fast and urgent note to
express to you my eternal
love and admiration and to
anounce a letter explaining
things.* Your letter was beau-
tiful but it upsetted me
because you can not have any
single doubt about my feelings
towards you. This is only an SOS.

A big hug and love to Fausto Miguelito.

Writing styles

    Commentary

    • "… After 16 January 1985"Barnet probably wrote this postcard after receiving Henze’s letter of 16 January 1985, since Barnet seems to be responding to Henze’s complaint that he was unwilling to meet Henze during his trip to Europe.
    • "anounce"recte "announce".
    • "… anounce a letter explaining things."This letter of explanation has yet to be located.
    • "upsetted"recte "upset".
    • [Figure Description]Engraving of a 19th-century sugar mill. Red-roof houses with a smoking chimney, palm trees, bush-lined avenues, a few workers in the field, lying by the (gray) sea.
